Horizon Europe RIA CICERO: MSA-based circular hydrometallurgy for sustainable, cost-effective production of NMC cathode materials

EIT RawMaterials Summit 2026

On 20–21 May 2026, members of the CICERO consortium attended the EIT RawMaterials Summit in Brussels, one of Europe’s leading events dedicated to raw materials innovation, sustainability, and industrial competitiveness.

The summit brought together representatives from industry, research organisations, policymakers, and European projects to discuss the future of critical raw materials and the role they play in supporting the green and digital transitions. Key topics included resource security, circular economy strategies, battery materials, recycling technologies, and strengthening European value chains.

For CICERO, the event provided an excellent opportunity to engage with stakeholders from across the raw materials sector, exchange knowledge, and gain insights into the latest developments shaping the European innovation landscape. Discussions throughout the summit highlighted the growing importance of sustainable and circular approaches to raw materials management—an objective that lies at the heart of the CICERO project.

Participation in the EIT RawMaterials Summit also enabled the consortium to strengthen connections with other initiatives working towards a more resilient and sustainable supply of critical raw materials in Europe.

The CICERO team would like to thank the organisers for a successful event and looks forward to continuing these valuable exchanges with the wider raw materials community.
